I finally cleared out our mail box last week. To my surprise I discovered a copy of the Bead Spectacular magazine with two projects by Beads Online. I just love the photos.

FINALLY!!!! The first of many designs by Fiona Munro of Sister of Style for Beads Online has been published in the Jan Creative Beading Magazine. Any one that has ever submitted to a beading magazine will understand the long wait from submission to publication.
The project is features a necklace and bracelet set with a heart and flower theme (perfect for Valentines). Fiona was given a brief to design jewellery that would showcase our beads. I think she done an amazing job. I can’t wait for her other projects to hit the news stands.
I started following Rocky Beads on facebook shortly after her project appeared in January’s Australian Beading (you know the one with that amazing necklace design). I couldn’t believe my luck when she listed these stunning pair of earrings in her etsy store (which I gobbled up straight away). The earring are amazing. They have a handmade polymer clay cabochon as the feature. The cabochons have a folk art feel to it. And the colours are just amazing.
What I love about Rocky the most is that she has the most amazing blog. Full of ideas, beautiful jewellery and tutorials. How cute are these little Russian dolls (picture below). You can spend forever just admiring the small details.
A must visit is Rocky’s blog The Clayin’ Mommy (and bookmark it as she updates it regularly). You can also keep in touch via facebook and to buy her creations visit her etsy store.
Just a little bit of fun. With a change of colour we have changed our phoenix bag charm into a peacock bag charm. Instructions for this project is now available online. See the thumbnail below.

You will need
- Clear glass Cabochons,
- Pictures (i.e photos, printed material anything on paper will work as long as the ink doesn’t run when wet)
- Settings
- Small scissors
- Clear adhesive (Diamond Glaze, Modge Podge, Glossy Accents etc)
1. Cut the image to fit the glass cabochon. You can either hold the glass cabochon firmly on the paper and cut around with small scissors or trace around the cabochon with a pencil and cut inside the tracing. The glass cabochon are very forgiving so you don’t need to be too exact or too neat.
2. Apply a some glaze to the back of the glass cabochon. For bigger cabochons (i.e 25mm and upwards) apply a thin layer, make sure there are no air bubbles and gently drop face down on top. If there are air bubble in the glaze before dropping the image on top use a pin to push them to the side. For smaller cabochons (20mm & 18mm) you can apply a few drops of glaze on the back of the glass cabochon and place the image face down on top. Place the glass cabochon between your thumb & forefinger and apply pressure to spread the glaze out. Clean any excess glaze with a damp towel.
3. When the cabochons are dry glue to the frame. You can use your glaze/clear adhesive or jewelers glue.
